Where would we be without Easter?

What if Jesus had not come to live and die years ago?

I’m sure there are many different answers to that question.. Some that read this post might even deny that Jesus was and is a real person. Others might deny that He was a great teacher and miracle worker. And of course the atheist will say there is no God.

I encourage everyone for a moment to stop and look around, The United States of America is the greatest country in the world today. It must be,  because people from all other countries are wanting to migrate to this land of the free and home of the brave. The principles we live by, even the Constitution is based upon the Biblical teachings of both the Old and New Testaments of God’s word. Maybe the atheist and the anti-christian societies and individuals should imagine what their world would be like without the influence of Jesus Christ and His Church.

Life from Death

In our back yard we have a couple of apple trees. A few years ago all the conditions were just right and we had a bumper harvest of apples. As I look at those trees, I realize each tree spring up from a tiny seed. That tiny seed at one time was alive in an apple, in order to become a mighty fruit bearing tree that seed would have to die and be placed in the ground.

John 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.

John 12:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

We call the Holiday Good Friday because we remember when the Son of God died on the cross for us. He had no sin of His own but took upon Himself our sin.( 1 John 3:5 )

Sin bring forth death. Our sin and the sin of the world carries the penalty of death. (Rom.6:23)

The reason we can call today Good Friday is because He who had no sin of His own, paid for our sins by taking our place, paying for our sins. ( 2 Corinthians 5:21 )

Today can be a Good day for you.

Rev 22:17

2 Corinthians 6:2

Hold us to it Lord

Recently during my evening prayer time, I got to the point of praying for our government leaders and for President Obama. As I was praying it came to my mind and heart that President Obama claims to be a Christian. As tears formed in my eyes, I cried out to the Lord, “Hold him to it”

Christianity is so much more than a religion, “the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch”.( Acts 11:26 ) They were call Christians because of their lifestyle. We do not become Christians because of where we live, where we go to church, or who our earthly parents are. We are Christians because we have been adopted into God’s family as sons and daughters by the Grace of God. Not by our works, we can not boast of how we saved ourselves, ( Eph. 2:8-10 ) our salvation is from what Jesus did on the Cross. God has no grandchildren.

My prayer that night and also since then is “Hold him to it”, if President Obama says he is a Christian, he is responsible to Jesus to be Christlike.

Accused of being a Christian

There was a time, in the early history of the Church, that being a Christian could actually carry a death penalty. To be a follower of Jesus Christ was more than something to do on Sunday morning. To adhere to and follow the teachings of Jesus could mean a loss of property or even your life. Yet people were influenced so much by a personal experience with Jesus, they defied warnings and persecutions to commit their lives to the hope they had in Jesus Christ.

This lifestyle, this way of life for the disciples of Jesus Christ earned them a title, a title that originally was meant to be an insult. That title was Christian or little Christs. Acts 11:25-26

Interesting to note that the followers of Jesus Christ were disciples first then because of how they lived and acted they were then called Christians. Today people believe a disciple of Jesus Christ is a fanatic not just a Christian. Perhaps the title of Christian should still be a title that we earn because of how we live. 2 Cor. 5:17 Have you ever been accused of being a Christian? Would anyone have any evidence to prove you are a Christian?

Do We Judge others by what we see?

A minister passing through his church
In the middle of the day,
Decided to pause by the altar
And see who had come to pray.

Just then the back door opened,
A man came down the aisle,
The minister frowned as he saw
The man hadn’t shaved in a while.

His shirt was kind a shabby
And his coat was worn and frayed,

The man knelt, he bowed his head,

Then rose and walked away.
